Festival
Depuis sa création en 1961, le Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes de Charleville-Mézières a largement contribué à l’évolution de sa discipline. Pour célébrer la 20ème édition de cet événement majeur qu’elle dirige depuis 2008, Anne-Françoise Cabanis invite une large sélection d’artistes fidèles à la manifestation. Des figures majeures du riche paysage de la marionnette contemporaine, telles que Claire Dancoisne du Théâtre de la Licorne, qui en plus de sa nouvelle création, L’Homme qui rit d’après Victor Hugo, déploie son univers forain et bricolé sur la Place Ducale.
Un territoire en mutation
Le second artiste associé de l’édition, l’Américain Basil Twist, est lui aussi un habitué du festival. Issu de la seconde promotion de l’École Supérieure Nationale des Arts de la Marionnette (ESNAM) créée à Charleville-Mézières en 1987, il a toujours gardé une relation forte avec le festival. On retrouve aussi les bien connus Turak Théâtre, Bérangère Vantusso ou encore le Bread Puppet, qui fait pour l’occasion son grand retour en France. Comme à chaque édition, les nouvelles générations sont également à l’honneur. Grâce à elles, le territoire de la marionnette s’élargit en rencontrant de nouvelles disciplines. Les arts numériques par exemple, ou la magie nouvelle. À Charleville, la marionnette est sans limites.
