« Au revoir, petit cahier, ou adieu… » Ainsi commence le cahier rédigé par Lucien Violleau, jeune cultivateur vendéen, parti au service militaire en 1937, et revenu d’Allemagne en 1945, après cinq ans de captivité. Durant huit longues années, le jeune homme écrivit ses Mémoires de Régiment, qui relatent minutieusement ses impressions. Un cahier conservé jusqu’à ce que son petit-fils, Damien Pouvreau, le découvre, et décide d’en faire un spectacle. Récit, théâtre, projections, musiques et chansons sont les ingrédients de ce récit de la grande Histoire par la petite, qui se déploie dans une atmosphère folk-rock. « Sentiments universels, messages constamment d’actualité, voilà ce qui a pu rapprocher un petit-fils de son grand-père, et permettre de nouer, de manière intime et personnelle, un dialogue impossible », dit Damien Pouvreau, guide de cette odyssée visuelle et sonore.
