Qu’est-ce que créer une « ambiance » par la chorégraphie ? C’est avec cette question en tête que l’on pourrait aborder les 37èmes Rencontres de danse de la Toussaint. Le week-end, intense, commencera par Agbazémé, de Julie Dossavi : avec délicatesse, elle pose des questions dérangeantes sur l’identité et le genre. La chorégraphe demande à ses danseurs, tchadiens, « d’entrer dans le corps d’une femme ». Inutile de souligner combien la notion de « danse africaine » se trouve alors, doucement mais sûrement, remise en jeu. Elle se fait troublante, presque ambiguë, et le dialogue avec la musique traditionnelle et les musiques actuelles accentue l’impression de flottement, le plaisir de sentir que la danse nous fait voyager. Serge Ricci quant à lui, avec Par-dessus bord, crée, en solo, une danse « intime ».
Un moment de pédagogie et de formation
Mais cette recherche de l’intimité le ramène au caractère inachevable du solo, à l’inévitable altérité à laquelle la solitude ne cesse de le renvoyer : comment le soliste peut-il être seul en scène ? Paradoxalement, ce projet le conduit à réinterroger la possibilité d’une rencontre, qu’il faudra construire avec le public. Enfin, Alain Gruttadauria est en quelque sorte un artisan de l’ambiance : on le connaît dans les atmosphères chaudes et sensuelles de l’esthétique jazz, qu’il manie à plaisir. Avec Les secrets…, il nous surprend sur un terrain nouveau : une pièce douce et nostalgique, mais incarnée par des danseurs qui prennent de la distance avec l’expression, pour explorer le potentiel d’une interprétation dont la « froideur » peut aussi être le vecteur d’émotions originales.
A noter également : les Rencontres de danse de la Toussaint sont un moment de pédagogie et de formation, tout autant qu’un week-end de spectacles professionnels. Ateliers et stages font partie intégrante de la programmation. Un projet complet, qui affirme la place de l’art chorégraphique dans une ville, au plus près des habitants.
