Le cadavre dans l’œil est la première version éditée du texte qui donne lieu à ce 8 novembre. L’auteur s’empare de l’un des symboles des années sombres de la Guinée sous le règne de Sékou Touré : la destruction du Pont 8 novembre aussi connu sous le nom de « Pont des pendus ». Pour le narrateur, cette destruction a une signification particulière, attachée à sa tragédie personnelle, elle-même liée à l’atrocité du camp Boiro qui a vu mourir 50 000 personnes entre 1966 et 1984, accusées de complots contre le régime en place. Le metteur en scène Cédric Brossard a choisi de placer les trois protagonistes de la pièce dans un terrain vague, au pied du Pont du 8 novembre. « Ces trois acolytes constituent un crew dans lequel chacun s’épanouit : l’un beatbox, maîtrise plusieurs instruments de musique, l’autre danse tout, sur tout, et le troisième raconte : c’est une avalanche de souvenirs qui surgissent avec la destruction du pont, réveillant un traumatisme profondément enfoui ».
