« Un festival est un arrêt sur image, un état du monde, déclare Patrick Sommier, directeur de la MC93. Ce n’est pas un bilan, c’est le secret espoir de retrouver un corps en vie. Où en est le théâtre ? Où en est le monde ? Qu’est-ce qui a changé en un an ou deux, depuis la dernière édition du Standard Idéal ? Tant de choses dans le monde, dans nos vies, dans notre regard sur le monde. Et comment cela s’est exprimé / imprimé sur les scènes de théâtre… » Voici caractérisé, en quelques phrases, le sillon que creuse, depuis 2004, le festival Le Standard Idéal. Un sillon qui s’affirme comme un acte de résistance à l’uniformisation du paysage théâtral international. Intimement lié à l’identité de la Maison de la culture de la Seine-Saint-Denis, ce rendez-vous annuel pointe du doigt les contrastes, les différences. Il défend l’esprit d’ouverture et de découverte en amenant les spectateurs à mettre en perspective leurs regards, leurs opinions, leurs singularités, en leur proposant d’accepter de se confronter à ce qu’ils ne connaissent pas encore.
Entre fidélité et révélation
Composée de cinq propositions, cette 9ème édition du Standard Idéal se partage entre fidélité à des artistes déjà repérés à la MC93 et révélation de nouveaux talents. « Si nous sommes fidèles en amitié, explique Patrick Sommier, nous devons aussi sans cesse accomplir un travail d’inventaire, de découverte, d’accompagnement, de proposition, de passeur d’œuvres ». Ainsi, après L’Opéra de quat’sous (présenté à Bobigny en 2003), le metteur en scène barcelonais Calixto Bieito crée, cette année, Desaparecer / Disappear, un spectacle conçu à partir d’histoires et de poèmes d’Edgar Allan Poe. L’Allemand David Marton, lui, revient faire résonner les accords de son théâtre musical avec Le Clavier bien tempéré, d’après Jean-Sébastien Bach et László Krasznahorkai. Enfin, nous retrouverons des comédiens de l’ancienne troupe d’Arpád Schilling dans Les actes de Pitbull, de Péter Kárpáti. Pour son premier passage à la MC93, le collectif portugais Teatro Praga présentera deux propositions aux partis pris opposés : l’une à la théâtralité tumultueuse (Le Songe d’une nuit d’été / The Fairy Queen d’après William Shakespeare et Henry Purcell), l’autre à l’univers beaucoup plus intimiste (Israël, de Pedro Zegre Penim). Dans une volonté de toujours ouvrir de nouvelles voies, cette édition 2012 du Standard Idéal rejoint, une fois de plus, l’idée d’un théâtre divers, exigeant et singulier.
