Avec ses LED, sa machine à café, sa télévision, ses mange-debout et son bloc sanitaire, la scénographie de A Snack To Be nous plonge dans une atmosphère bien connue : celle du snack. Autrement dit de l’« ultime lieu de vie des zones déshumanisées », selon les termes de la compagnie La Main s’Affaire. D’abord figés, éloignés les des autres, les quatre circassiens et le comédien – Laure Serié, Stéphane Dutournie, Ninas Couillerot, Priscilla Mateo et Guillaume Mitonneau – qui cosignent le spectacle ne tardent pas à se rapprocher. Au gré d’une histoire « trashy-comique » qui transforme le fast-food en « terrain de jeu idéal de la rencontre de l’humain avec ses semblables, avec lui-même », des personnages singuliers se dessinent, et forment communauté. Le geste acrobatique est leur langage commun : dans la froideur, l’anonymat, il fait surgir le hasard et l’inattendu.
