Théâtre Paul Eluard Bezons / Chor. Maud Pizon et Jérôme Brabant
Maud Pizon et Jérôme Brabant se sont lancés sur les sentiers de la recherche, parcourant les archives en France comme aux Etats-Unis pour retrouver les danses des pionniers de la danse moderne que sont Ruth Saint Denis et Ted Shawn. La première, surnommée The First Lady of American Dance, eut l’idée de piocher dans un imaginaire exotique du début du 20e siècle pour incarner une danse résolument nouvelle. Le second eut le mérite de mettre en valeur la danse masculine. A Taste of Ted signe l’aboutissement de cette recherche et la collecte d’une multitude de chorégraphies peu connues. Mais surtout, leur réécriture très contemporaine questionne cet héritage et cette démarche. Au-delà de redonner vie aux danses de ces deux pionniers, il s’agit de réinventer ce mélange de cultures et de regards, et de les mettre à l’épreuve de notre imaginaire contemporain. Si la première partie de la pièce prend la forme d’une conférence dansée, la deuxième invente un nouveau langage issu d’une relecture poétique, le tout accompagné par le piano virtuose d’Aurélien Richard.
