Régulièrement sur scène auprès de Joshua Redman ou Kurt Rosenwinkel, auteur d’un disque culte du jazz de ces vingt dernières années (Invisible Cinema), Aaron Parks a longtemps tourné avec un groupe nommé Little Big dans lequel ses affinités pour le rock se mêlait à ses talents d’improvisateur. Le voici qui revient en Europe avec un tout nouveau quartet, dans lequel on repère le saxophoniste ténor Ben Solomon dont la réputation ne cesse de s’affirmer à New York, et le batteur RJ Miller, originaire du Maine, qui produit des musiques subtiles et poétiques, au jeu tout en subtilité. Parks annonçant « une musique à la palette harmonique plus riche, avec des rythmes allant du swing au contemplatif, avec beaucoup de liberté pour communiquer et improviser réellement ensemble, en tant que groupe », on se précipitera assurément pour la découvrir en direct.
