Chercher la vérité plutôt que le coupable. Tel est le but de la mère de l’enfant assassiné. Telle est sans doute également celui de l’auteur, metteur en scène et acteur Jacques Dor, faisant sienne la parole du désastre pour tâcher d’éclairer la réalité de la douleur mieux encore que celle du crime, interroger l’humain en ses faillites et en ses failles et questionner, avec pudeur et respect, « le prix incalculable de toute vie ». Pour avoir certainement croisé le chemin de Francis Heaulme, deux petits garçons ont été retrouvés assassinés au bord d’une voie ferrée désaffectée. Traces piétinées, indices improbables, preuves judiciaires infondées : restent les stigmates de la souffrance et les marques ravivées de la mémoire, transformant le récit en mémorial. Pas de haine ni de ressentiment dans cette parole, seulement le regret d’un passé qui a emporté tout avenir avec lui. L’enfant serait un adulte aujourd’hui mais à tout jamais il demeure un enfant : comme dans tout deuil de ceux qui sont morts trop tôt, c’est la privation des promesses et le mystère à jamais scellé de que leur réservait le temps qui sont les plus insupportables.
L’art, consolation des inconsolables
Sur cette épineuse question du rapport entre théâtre et fait divers, Jacques Dor réussit à transformer le sordide drame social en tragédie. Le texte peine un peu à en installer les conditions de densité par la fable imaginée de la venue de l’écrivain jusqu’à celle qui parle pour ne pas oublier (« tant que je parle, tant que je lui parle, il n’a pas complètement disparu »), mais une fois que s’élève la voix rapportée de la mère, on demeure cloué par les mots, tétanisé dans l’écoute, captivé par le ressassement. La chanteuse lyrique Adila Carles accompagne Jacques Dor dans une enquête qui relève davantage de la quête et les contrepoints qu’offre son art à l’abjection du récit réussissent à la fois à alléger le pathos et à intensifier ses effets. A la fois chœur à une voix et pythie des cruels arrêts du destin, la chanteuse répond au comédien, le relance, le soutient et trace avec lui le dessin de cette route que la souffrance et la mémoire n’ont de cesse de parcourir à nouveau, à la recherche d’un sens que l’on ne trouve ni dans ce qu’on a subi, ni dans l’esprit des égarés devenus assassins. Un sens que l’art, et lui seul, peut tâcher d’élucider. Ce qui fait peut-être justement la différence entre le théâtre et le fait divers, différence que Jacques Dor creuse avec habileté, délicatesse, force et tact dans ce spectacle.
