NOUVELLE PRODUCTION / OPÉRA BASTILLE
Adrienne Lecouvreur, c’est l’opéra qui parle du théâtre, en célébrant une actrice du 18e siècle qui mettait le naturel au-dessus des conventions théâtrales de l’époque. Maître de l’opéra vériste, au côté de Mascagni, Leoncavallo puis Puccini, Francesco Cilea (1866-1950) a trouvé dans la pièce de Scribe et Legouvé matière à de vrais grands rôles tragiques, où se répondent les passions de la scène et celles de la vie réelle. Le rôle d’Adrienne est taillé pour les grandes tragédiennes lyriques et c’est d’ailleurs pour Angela Gheorghiu que David McVicar a monté cette nouvelle production, visible en DVD (Decca) avant son arrivée à l’Opéra Bastille. La soprano y retrouvera Marcelo Alvarez dans le rôle de Maurizio et, à la direction, Daniel Oren.
