Théo Mercier est plasticien et metteur en scène, Steven Michel danseur et chorégraphe. Ensemble, ils ont créé Affordable Solution for Better Living, une performance aussi étonnante qu’inclassable. Au centre d’un espace immaculé, une étagère Ikea, symbole du « beau pour tous » et de nos univers standardisés. Un être hybride, homme presque parfait, agence en toute absurdité son intérieur, s’intégrant littéralement au décor. Que disent l’aseptisation et l’uniformisation croissante des objets et des corps ? Sommes-nous des individus véritablement libres ou des consommateurs incessamment soumis aux diktats des marques ? En trois mouvements, la pièce déploie les certitudes et les errances de cette créature, mi-homme mi-meuble. Peu à peu, son univers policé s’effrite, laissant apparaître sa part d’ombre en même temps que son humanité.
