C’est suite à une explosion nucléaire provoquée par des terroristes que les jeunes Mark et Louise se retrouvent seuls, dans une cave sinistre. Il est censé l’avoir sauvée et transportée dans cet abri confiné. Tout les oppose. Lui est très réservé, elle extravertie. Entre eux se noue une relation où émergent des rapports de force fluctuants, des jeux de manipulation imprévisibles, avec comme souvent chez les auteurs britanniques un humour qui affleure au cœur de situations extrêmes voire ici totalement désespérées. Très remarquée lors de sa création en 2019, la mise en scène d’Antonin Chalon s’attache à la sincérité des personnages autant qu’à la précision de la partition théâtrale, avec ses silences, son suspense et ses crescendos. Sur le fil d’une frontière brouillée entre vérité et mensonge, le face-à-face surprend sans dissimuler sa fragile dimension humaine.
