Quoi de commun entre Bourvil, Purcell et Tom Waits ? A priori, pas grand-chose et pourtant ces trois-là sont réunis par ce drôle de duo composé par la chanteuse et joueuse de ukulélé Agathe Peyrat et l’accordéoniste Pierre Cussac. Leur credo : « La mécanique de l’intime, l’appel au souvenir et à l’imagination. » De quoi nourrir une conversation qui a pris forme à l’été 2020. Peaufinant les arrangements de chansons aux horizons larges, de la pop au baroque, du blues au rock, de Radiohead à Serge Gainsbourg, ils en donnent une relecture en versions originales, afin d’éclairer les textes de nouvelles teintes, ici plus jazz, là plutôt cabaret, toujours non conformes aux attentes et a priori, mais non sans une nécessaire touche d’humour si l’humeur l’exige. Comme pour nous redire que la musique se joue toujours sans œillères.
