C’est à la Biennale de la Danse de Lyon en 2006 que le chorégraphe fait la connaissance de la Compana Urbana de Dança, alors inconnue en France. Issue des favelas de Rio, leur danse est un mélange insouciant de hip hop, samba, capoeira… En collaborant avec eux en tant que chorégraphe, Mourad Merzouki a su préserver leur identité sans les emporter dans le hip hop virtuose et rebondissant qu’on lui connaît. Agwa donne la part belle au groupe, et se sert de l’eau comme fil rouge dans son propos comme dans la chorégraphie. Le plateau, jalonné de gobelets en plastique, devient le réceptacle d’une expérience collective autour du symbole et des images de l’eau. Correria semble plus légère. Menées sur un rythme endiablé, les séquences se succèdent tout en laissant un espace d’expression à chaque interprète. Une énergie qui déborde, malgré un essoufflement sur la fin de la pièce aux procédés et mélanges parfois sans surprise.
