Petite paysanne du delta devenue phare de l’Egypte, surnommée la quatrième pyramide d’un pays avec lequel elle entretint une relation passionnée, la diva aux lunettes noires et au foulard à la main fit rêver tout le monde arabe en évoquant l’amour et ses difficultés, la beauté des choses, les plaies et les espoirs de son pays. Les chansons d’Oum Kalsoum, qu’on écoutait dans l’extase du narguilé, l’oreille collée aux retransmissions radiophoniques des concerts du jeudi soir, provoquaient le mazaag, ce sentiment si particulier que l’on n’éprouve que dans le miracle levantin du temps qui glisse en caresses mélancoliques et tendres. Dans une scénographie évocatrice et suggestive, Frédéric Fresson, Lucien Zerrad et Mohanad Aljaramani accompagnent Nora Krief « dans un imaginaire lointain et imagé, avec la douceur nécessaire à ce voyage intérieur ». Enfin en paix avec ses souvenirs longtemps réprimés, « Norah Krief, réconciliée avec ses vieux démons, rend hommage à sa mère, à tous les déracinés et leurs descendants ».
