NEW MORNING / BIGUINE JAZZ
Piano Biguines, c’est le premier disque chez Debs du Guadeloupéen. Un album en trio pour celui qui avait pour modèles Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal, Bill Evans, « chacun dans leurs registres ». C’était en 1968 et depuis Alain Jean-Marie n’a jamais cessé de creuser cette formule qui exige selon lui cohésion et écoute mutuelle. Pour s’en convaincre, il suffit de réécouter l’intégrale que consacre le label Frémeaux & Associés aux Biguine Reflections gravées par ce pianiste, considéré comme l’un des tout meilleurs sidemen que compte Paris. Ces réflexions, « clin d’œil à Monk », sont un jeu de miroir où le jazz brille en se reflétant dans la biguine. Il y adapte les classiques du genre, mazurkas, biguines, et même wa bap chers au regretté Al Lirvat, sans oublier ses propres compositions. Et ce 7 décembre, il les joue en très bonne compagnie : Eric Vinceno à la basse et Jean-Claude Montredon aux baguettes figurent parmi ses plus fidèles partenaires.
