La petite salle de l’Espace Sorano, aux bonnes proportions, sert d’écrin à une programmation habile qui met en lumière de magnifiques musiciens, souvent peu visibles sur les autres scènes franciliennes. A l’image du trompettiste et bugliste Alex Tassel qui délivre en quintette un hardbop de grande classe servi par des musiciens d’excellence, tous ou presque leaders par ailleurs : Sylvain Beuf au saxophone ténor, Laurent de Wilde au piano, Viktor Nyberg à la contrebasse et Julien Charlet à la batterie. Un mois plus tard, surprise, le grand batteur américain Jeff Ballard, star mondiale de son instrument depuis sa participation depuis dix ans à l’extraordinaire aventure du trio de Brad Mehldau, répond (en voisin, il vient de s’installer à Vincennes…) à une carte blanche entouré d’amis invités surprise. Jeff Ballard est aussi membre du groupe Fly et leader d’un trio composé de Lionel Loueke et Miguel Zenon, avec lequel il a signé récemment sur le label Okeh son premier enregistrement en leader, à l’âge de 50 ans : « Time’s Tales ».
