Dépassé en notoriété par ses "contemporains" Kissin ou Lugansky, Alexander Melkinov n’en demeure pas moins l’un des plus incroyables talents de la scène pianistique russe actuelle. Formé au célèbre Conservatoire de Moscou, puis à Munich par la pianiste géorgienne Elisso Virsaladze, il est très tôt repéré, admiré et soutenu par l’immense Sviatoslav Richter. Un bon signe ! Pour autant, sa sensibilité rêveuse, son sens génial des nuances les plus douces et son intérêt pour les instruments anciens ne cadrent pas avec le cliché du pianiste russe obsédé de virtuosité. La magie sonore, le brio digital et la profonde sensibilité romantique de Melnikov font naturellement merveille dans les grandes pages du XIXè siècle comme ce soir avec les 12 Études symphoniques de Schumann et les 24 Préludes de Chopin. Un pianiste à connaître absolument.
