Célébrant à sa manière le bicentenaire de la naissance de Chopin, Alexandre Tharaud a récemment fait paraître un disque (chez Virgin Classics) en forme de « journal intime », portrait du compositeur autant qu’autoportrait du pianiste. De cette collection de pièces brèves, Alexandre Tharaud a puisé une partie de la matière de son récital, entre nocturnes, ballades et mazurkas, couronné par la Fantaisie impromptue op. 66 et la Fantaisie en fa mineur op. 49. En regard, il propose quelques pièces de Schubert, un autre compositeur dont l’œuvre l’accompagne depuis toujours, également dans un format miniature (Moments musicaux op. 94). On entendra également sa propre transcription de l’ouverture de Rosamonde, bien dans la manière toute personnelle qu’a Alexandre Tharaud de s’emparer des œuvres du passé.
