Un premier récital parisien, l’an dernier à l’Auditorium du Louvre, avait permis de découvrir cette jeune pianiste germano-japonaise auquel le label Deutsche Grammophon a accordé sa confiance. À vingt-trois ans, Alice Sara Ott y a déjà enregistré Chopin, Liszt et dernièrement Beethoven. C’est probablement dans Liszt, particulièrement dans les Études d’exécution transcendante, que les qualités de la pianiste sont les plus évidentes, et sa virtuosité brillante sait cependant éviter les excès d’emphase. Au Théâtre de la Ville, elle en joue deux extraits – et non des moindres : les deux dernières, Harmonies du soir et Chasse-neige. Alice Sara Ott a bâti son répertoire sur le romantisme, ce qu’elle illustre ici encore avec les trois Valses brillantes op. 34 de Chopin (ainsi qu’avec les deux premières de l’opus 64). C’est un romantisme d’élan, solide, quelque peu extérieur mais indéniablement efficace – ce que la Paraphrase sur Rigoletto de Liszt, programmée en fin de concert, ne devrait pas démentir. Plus légères mais non moins vivaces, deux œuvres de Mozart (Variations sur un menuet de Duport) et Beethoven (Sonate n° 3 en ut majeur) complètent un programme bien construit, pour mettre en avant les qualités déjà entrevues de l’artiste.
