Qui l’a ouï sur scène mesure le prix de cette voix. Comme feu Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, ce maître chanteur envoie des courbes vocales susceptibles de vous projeter au septième ciel, des modulations poétiques qui parlent à l’âme. Nul doute que la comparaison fait sens avec le Pakistanais, à la différence près que ce dernier se présentait assis, tout en rondeur bonhomme, là où Qasimov affiche une droiture de rigueur. Pour le reste, tous deux ont pour inspiration les fins lettrés de la mystique persane, qui a fécondé l’Asie centrale. En Azerbaïdjan, la tradition musicale qui en est née se nomme mugham, avec des variations modales pouvant vous faire décoller vers des paradis métaphysiques. Le maître chanteur partagera la scène avec un autre poète, venu du Kurdistan : le chantre soufi Sharam Nazeri, dont la voix invite elle aussi à l’extase. Divin.
