Théâtre de Saint-Maur / d’après Stefan Zweig / mes Caroline Darnay
Au début du XXème siècle, sur un paquebot reliant l’Asie à l’Europe, un homme se déleste du secret qui pèse sur sa conscience. Il est médecin. Le souvenir d’une femme hante son esprit… « Amok concentre, en elle-même, tous les thèmes de prédilection de Zweig, déclare Alexis Moncorgé, interprète et adaptateur du spectacle mis en scène par Caroline Darnay : un jeune homme appelé par un destin tragique qui perd toute chance de jouer les bonnes cartes pour se sauver ; une femme adultère, coupable d’être mal aimée ; un dénouement qui ne parvient pas à les amender. » En portant à la scène la nouvelle de l’auteur autrichien, le jeune comédien souhaite nous faire retrouver « les ambiances envoûtantes et fantasmagoriques de Poe, Maupassant, Gauthier ou Stevenson ». Et nous faire voyager « à travers les forêts fiévreuses des tropiques », dans une « permanente ambigüité entre réalité et irréalité, sens et non-sens, raison et folie ».
