Il y a de la légèreté dans ces Anagrammes pour Faust, une manière de badinerie, de connivence inventive et souriante qui — tout au long des cinquante-cinq minutes de ce geste théâtral — lie le public aux remarquables artistes habitant l’espace scénique (Christophe Avril, Eve-Chems de Brouwer, Boutaïna Elfekkak, Hervé Pierre et Pascale Pinamonti). Mais, il y a également une forme d’étrange profondeur, de gravité poétique qui ne se laisse jamais aller à la moindre emphase, à un quelconque esprit de solennité. Humour, fertilité de l’esprit, acuité de matériaux, d’images, de perceptions qui mettent en jeu la condition humaine, le besoin immuable de la dépasser… Tout cela coexiste et se réfléchit de façon très libre, comme innocente, à travers les figures de Faust, de Prométhée, de Méphisto, la manipulation de pantins rudimentaires, d’objets et de mécanismes insolites. Tout cela fraie un chemin vers des tableaux composites, parfois énigmatiques, des tableaux qui réussissent à éveiller à la fois émotion et réflexion.
Des espaces de partage intellectuel et émotionnel
Mêlant ses propres écrits à des extraits de L’Invention de Morel d’Adolfo Bioy Casares et de textes de Paul Valéry, Ezéquiel Garcia-Romeu visite ainsi les divers questionnements métaphysiques qui hantent depuis toujours l’esprit humain. Sans pour cela chercher à clairement les caractériser ou à les fondre dans le même moule. Un ballon qui s’échappe d’une main pour monter jusqu’aux cintres ; des projections vidéo de créatures imaginaires — issues de l’univers pictural de Jérôme Bosch — qui traversent paisiblement le fond de scène : Anagrammes pour Faust vise davantage à stimuler, à intriguer, à engendrer des sensations, qu’à décrypter ou fournir des réponses formelles aux problématiques existentielles de l’homme. « Au théâtre, c’est l’aventure de l’interrogation qui me fascine et toutes les inconnues qui forment encore des univers inexplorés », proclame le metteur en scène. Partant à la recherche de ces paysages ignorés, faisant pour l’occasion appel à un comédien aussi singulier, aussi touchant qu’Hervé Pierre, Ezéquiel Garcia-Romeu crée un spectacle — pour qui veut bien s’ouvrir à l’ailleurs qu’il fait naître — véritablement captivant.
