L’idée de base d’Anatomia Publica relate un fait autobiographique. En effet, alors qu’elle n’a plus de nouvelles de son époux parti à la guerre depuis plus d’un an, sa grand-mère qui vit en Espagne se remarie. Mais voilà que le disparu est de retour. Dilemme… Ils choisissent alors de former un ménage à trois. On imagine le burlesque de cette situation inimaginable à l’époque. Toméo Vergès en tire un vaudeville expérimental, inspiré des films du cinéaste Martin Arnold, inventeur du « Found footage ou film trouvé ». Fait de pannes, de soubresauts, de courts-circuits, Anatomia publica est un travail sur la décomposition du geste. Les corps des danseurs entrent dans un mouvement saccadé, flux continu de ruptures nerveuses, et interrogent les mécanismes qui agissent sur notre inconscient. Avec sa temporalité et ses processus cinématographiques revisités avec humour par le chorégraphe, la pièce distille une ambiance étrange et drôle, cruelle parfois, émouvante toujours.
