« J’avais envie de rencontrer des personnes qui portaient le même nom que moi et ainsi de me libérer de ce nom. » Eszter Salamon a donc choisi l’homonymie, et son caractère purement arbitraire, pour aller vers l’autre. Elle propose aux personnes ainsi rencontrées de s’associer à la création d’And Then (« et alors ») : un projet hors norme, en premier lieu parce qu’il est ouvert indifféremment à toutes les personnes rencontrées sur la base de ce principe aléatoire, et donc habité de corps et d’itinéraires qui n’ont rien à voir avec la danse. Ces huit personnes se racontent, décrivent leur vie, leur époque. Qu’est-ce que plonger dans l’intimité de ces inconnus ? Quel lien se crée entre eux ? Qu’est-ce qui nous touche ou nous indiffère dans leurs récits ? Pour décrire l’apparition de ces questions et l’objet scénique qui en découle, la chorégraphe a trouvé une expression : « documentaire vivant ». Ou comment faire de la danse avec des histoires de vie.
