Enfin ! Chef-d’œuvre du répertoire lyrique vériste, Andrea Chénier d’Umberto Giordano fait ce mois-ci son entrée au répertoire de l’Opéra de Paris. Son patron, Nicolas Joël, qui n’a pas toujours des goûts palpitants en matière de mise en scène, élargit ainsi de manière salutaire la programmation. Et n’imaginez pas que cette nouvelle production se limite à une simple réhabilitation musicologique. Du côté des interprètes, le public sera gâté avec, dans le rôle-titre, le ténor star Marcelo Alvarez. Le chanteur argentin brille par sa projection musclée et son legato charnel. A ses côtés figurent notamment Sergei Murzaev, Micaela Carosi et Varduhi Abrahamyan. La mise en scène est signée Giancarlo del Monaco, qui fait ses débuts à l’Opéra de Paris. Dans la fosse, on retrouve par contre un habitué de la maison, vu le mois dernier dans La Bohème : le chef israélien Daniel Oren.
