LES LILAS / JAZZ
Présenté comme un « quartet de luxe », ce groupe a fait ses débuts en juin 2016 à la Maison de la Radio. Depuis, un disque a paru sur le label La Buissonne, largement salué par la critique, qui a chanté les retrouvailles d’Andy Emler et de Marc Ducret. Tous deux figures centrales d’une certaine idée française du jazz, à la charnière du savant et du populaire, à la fois intuitif et pensé, abstrait et charnel, le pianiste et le guitariste ont collaboré abondamment au début de leur carrière, dans les années 1980. Que leurs trajectoires se recoupent au sein de ce quartet que complètent deux musiciens tout aussi singuliers dans le paysage jazzistique, le contrebassiste Claude Tchamitchian et le batteur Eric Echampard, est en soi un événement. Tout à la fois dénonciation d’un monde qui marche à l’envers et métaphore d’une manière d’appréhender la musique en dehors des conventions, le titre de Running Backwards dit bien le dynamisme ludique et les mouvements contradictoires qui animent leur musique, imprévisible et palpitante.
