Après de longues années à se débattre dans le semi-anonymat public et professionnel qui sont le lot d’une écrasante majorité de groupes de jazz français, le MegaOctet est depuis 5 ans LA formation française dont on parle. Le mini-big band explosif d’Andy Emler a soudain raflé tous les suffrages (Prix du meilleur disque français de l’Académie du Jazz, Victoire du Jazz, Django d’Or, etc) et mis la critique spécialisée et le public au diapason. Cette pluie d’honneurs, loin d’assoupir le leader, n’a au contraire fait qu’ouvrir un peu plus son insatiable appétit de « tambouilleur » d’esthétiques multiples et de chef d’une tribu de musiciens survoltés et virtuoses. Sur la scène du Triton, où il a ses bonnes habitudes (et avant d’entrer en studio), le MegaOctet et son chef présentent en avant-première leur nouveau répertoire, nouvelle expérience de « musique européenne vivante de début de siècle », suite de morceaux autour de la note « mi ». On sera là… Exaltant !
