Pour finir 2012 en beauté, le MegaOctet organise sa fête de fin d’année dans son quasi home sweet home, le Triton des Lilas. Au menu, un florilège du meilleur du répertoire du groupe – ce qui va être ardu tant leurs disques ressemblent déjà à des « best of ». Si la clique d’Andy Emler ne se présente plus (comme le veut l’expression consacrée), un petit rappel de leurs antécédents s’impose avant de festoyer en leur compagnie. Créé en 1989, ce « laboratoire des plus belles audaces » (expression signée André Francis) a connu plusieurs mutations, mais a toujours su aller là où on ne l’attendait pas, entre improvisation débridée, jazz sous acides ou musique contemporaine dopée au rock. Joujou extra qui fait crac boum hue d’Andy Emler, le Mega est sans doute l’une des formations les plus « titrées » du moment : à son actif, deux Victoires du Jazz et deux Djangos d’Or. Plus que de simples concerts, leurs prestations scéniques offrent de véritables performances où l’on rit autant que l’on vibre.
