Le MegaOctet est depuis 5 ans LA formation française dont on parle. Le mini big band explosif d’Andy Emler a soudain raflé tous les suffrages (Prix du meilleur disque français de l’Académie du Jazz, Victoire du Jazz, Django d’Or, etc) et mis la critique spécialisée et le public au diapason. Cette pluie d’honneurs, loin d’assoupir le leader, n’a au contraire fait qu’ouvrir un peu plus son insatiable appétit de « tambouilleur » d’esthétiques multiples et sa soif de scène. Emler, chef démocratique par excellence, sonne une fois de plus le rappel de sa tribu de musiciens survoltés et virtuoses pour jouer le nouveau répertoire du groupe, suite de morceaux autour de la note « mi » récemment créés au Triton. Deux semaines plus tard, Emler revient à l’Onde en duo avec le saxophoniste et chanteur Thomas de Pourquery pour zigzaguer entre Fats Wallers et Claude Nougaro, Albert Ayler et Pierre Desproges.
