L’album « Eros y Muerte », dernier opus en date de la chanteuse grecque, constitue l’un des sommets incontestables de sa discographie. Dans ce projet, la grande chanteuse et compositrice aborde trois poètes différents, dans trois langues différentes : Pablo Neruda en espagnol, Kostis Palamas en grec et Anna de Noailles en français. « Je n’avais plus fait de disque avec mes compositions depuis 2000. Je me suis rendu compte que je m’étais tue pendant plus de cinq ans. C’est un long silence… Pour moi l’essence même de mon travail, c’est la composition. En fait, ces années d’interprète m’ont fait beaucoup de bien, parce qu’elles m’ont détournée de moi en quelque sorte… ». Une Angélique Ionatos changée s’est révélée avec ce disque : plus intime, plus fragile, plus vraie, plus retenue, plus près de nous, aux prises dans sa chair avec les affres de l’amour et de la mort. Une remarquable force d’inspiration habite ces chansons nouvelles, traversées de la première à la dernière note par une lumière et une musicalité rares. Mention spéciale à Michael Nick qui signe les arrangements de l’album, restitués sur scène par César Stroscio au bandonéon, David Braccini au violon et Claude Tchamitchian à la contrebasse.
