La Parenthèse / d’après Ali Zamir / mes Guillaume Barbot
Anguille, 17 ans, est « solaire, pleine d’uppercut, là mais déjà absente, sans attache, insaisissable ». Narratrice d’Anguille sous roche (éditions Le Tripode) d’Ali Zamir, elle a tout quitté pour monter à bord d’un kwassa-kwassa – embarcation de fortune où se risquent de nombreux Comoriens pour gagner Mayotte –, qui ne tarde pas à la précipiter dans la mer. Dans une longue phrase syncopée de plus de 300 pages, elle remonte le fleuve de ses souvenirs. Elle raconte sa vie avec sa sœur jumelle Crotale, avec sa mère Connaît-Tout et surtout son amant Vorace. Son premier amour qui l’a quittée.
Amour à la dérive
Pour porter la logorrhée d’Anguille, il fallait une comédienne à l’aise avec les mots étranges et les phrases à rallonge. Guillaume Barbot a pensé à Déborah Lukumuena, remarquée pour son interprétation dans le film Divines de Houda Benyamina. Il a eu raison. Avec ses gestes, sa voix et son regard d’enfant logés dans un grand corps, la comédienne est une bouleversante jeune fille à la dérive. Rythmés par des sonorités électros mixées en direct par Pierre-Marie Braye-Weppe et Yvan Talbot, ses premiers pas au théâtre sont d’une justesse, d’une sobriété parfaites. Ils annoncent de beaux lendemains. Car si Déborah Lukumuena dit la détresse de son personnage, elle en exprime aussi la force vitale et le singulier humour.
