La Manufacture / chorégraphie Thierry Smits
Parce que la danse belge ne se réduit pas à Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Wim Vandekeybus, Michèle Noiret ou Jan Martens, on saluera la venue à La Manufacture cet été de Thierry Smits. Avec presque trente ans de chorégraphie derrière lui, Thierry Smits a traversé le paysage de la danse contemporaine en faisant fi des tendances tout en cherchant, à chaque nouvelle création, des univers singuliers et renouvelés. Un mot d’ordre cependant : la confiance faite au corps dans sa capacité à se dépasser, dans sa dimension physique, performative et symbolique comme porteur d’images et de sensations. Et pourtant, Anima Ardens, pièce créée en 2016, n’a été vue en France qu’à Châteauvallon.
Une tension qui monte
Anima Ardens n’est pas de ces pièces qui laissent indifférent, ne serait-ce par son parti-pris de la nudité masculine qui interpelle d’emblée le regard. Onze hommes au plateau, dans leur plus simple appareil, vont se jeter corps et âmes dans la danse, explorant par la voix, le souffle, et le mouvement la puissance d’une transe que le collectif pousse à bout. Le spectacle montre la possibilité de rites contemporains à travers de grands états de tension et d’émotion. Tous issus de parcours, d’horizons et d’origines très différents, ils forment une communauté brute mais pleine d’une diversité fédératrice.
