Après s’être aventuré jusqu’à Poulenc, Anima Eterna et leur chef Jos Van Immerseel retrouvent la musique symphonique de Beethoven. Les interprétations de la formation belge sur instruments d’époque se distinguent toujours par leur approche rigoureuse du texte musical. Le choix des articulations, des dynamiques et des couleurs obéit ainsi à un respect absolu de la partition, engendrant parfois des relectures singulières d’œuvres pourtant rabâchées. A la Salle Pleyel, le programme décline en mode beethovenien la trilogie inamovible ouverture-concerto-symphonie. Après la trop rare ouverture de la Consécration de la Maison, aux accents post-baroques, Jos Van Immerseel dirigera depuis le piano le Premier concerto, qu’il avait magnifiquement gravé avec l’ensemble Tafelmusik (Sony). Enfin, la Cinquième Symphonie illustrera sans doute à merveille le nom de l’orchestre, Anima Eterna, qui n’est en fait que la traduction latine du nom allemand du chef…
