Qui sont ces « Fidèles » ?
Anna Nozière : Des gens attachés par leurs fidélités à la religion, à leurs croyances, à la famille, aux injonctions de la lignée. Ils sont tenus et empêchés par les figures du passé, par une histoire familiale qui les entraîne dans un engrenage infernal, comme une malédiction. Cette pièce parle de la mémoire et de la façon dont chacun tente de vivre avec, de nos liens aux générations qui nous précèdent, du drame de l’enfance abîmée. En fait, la narration importe moins que les réactions déclenchées par les situations, souvent abruptes. Elle n’obéit pas à une logique discursive mais fonctionne plutôt par digressions et ricochets, à la manière des rêves. Le sens se joue au niveau symbolique et convoque des thèmes archaïques, comme dans un conte.

Vous vous libérez aussi de tout réalisme. Vos personnages, assassinés au détour d’une réplique, ressuscitent à la didascalie suivante.
A. N. : Passé et présent, réel et fantasme s’entremêlent dans un jeu de projections qui brouille en permanence les lisières de la réalité et du cauchemar. L’écriture s’amorce chez moi par un flot qui me submerge, qui se déverse en un écoulement touffu, que je trie et ensuite compose. C’est le rythme qui guide ma main, plus encore que le sens. Le rythme et l’énergie portée par les mots permettront ensuite d’être en prise sensible avec le public.
L’émotion provoquée par les situations touche en effet le spectateur mais sans agression car vous poussez la violence des relations entre les membres de cette famille vers le burlesque.
A. N. : Certaines situations, très dures, évoquent la maltraitance ou la pédophilie. Je les traite en décalage, hors de toute psychologie, et les pousse à l’extrême incongruité pour en faire sortir l’insupportable drôlerie. Pour reprendre la réflexion du philosophe Boris Cyrulnik sur la résilience, l’artiste qui ne parvient pas à transcender la violence est un agresseur supplémentaire.
Vous avez puisé dans votre vécu intime. Comment articuler le « je » et le « nous » ?
A. N. : J’ai convoqué ma propre mémoire pour déclencher l’écriture, les sensations que m’a laissées mon enfance, mais ce texte n’est pas autobiographique. Très vite, la fiction est venue s’en mêler, les personnages ont pris vie à mon insu, m’ont emmenée dans leurs histoires… et je les ai suivis.
Comment s’est effectué le passage de l’écriture solitaire au travail collectif sur le plateau ?
A. N. : J’ai commencé par me débarrasser des visions qui avaient guidé l’écriture et je me suis confrontée au texte, à mon propre mystère. Avec les comédiens, nous avons exploré la pièce, pour en fouiller tous les sens, tous les possibles. A mesure de nos discussions et des improvisations, j’ai vu des couleurs différentes, des nuances que je n’avais pas discernées auparavant. L’inconscient de l’écriture devient lisible sur le plateau, car il se trouve matérialisé. Nous allons ensuite travailler une énergie commune malgré les individualités différentes, chercher le passage de nos intimités vers celles des spectateurs.
