Le 8 mars 1869, Hector Berlioz s’éteint à l’âge de 65 ans dans son appartement parisien, au 4ème étage du 4 rue de Calais, où il vécut les 13 dernières années de sa vie et où il composa en particulier Béatrice et Bénedict et Les Troyens. Cet anniversaire – ainsi va la vie musicale, sautillant de célébrations en célébrations – inspire à la Philharmonie une impressionnante série de rendez-vous dont deux week-ends thématiques en janvier et mai 2019. Pour l’heure, quatre concerts de l’Orchestre de Paris, dont on connaît la riche histoire berliozienne, ouvrent discrètement le cycle avec la cantate La Mort de Cléopâtre chantée par la mezzo Stéphanie d’Oustrac, sous la direction de Jakub Hruša qui dirige par ailleurs des œuvres de Ives, Bartok et Janacek (les 19 et 20 à 20h30) puis, cette fois-ci sous la baguette de son chef associé Thomas Hengelbrock, avec l’Ouverture de Béatrice et Bénédict précédant le Concerto pour piano n° 2 de Prokofiev (avec Igor Levit en soliste) et la Symphonie n° 7 de Beethoven (les 3 et 4 octobre à 20h30). Signalons d’emblée que l’Orchestre de Paris reviendra dans ce cycle pour l’un de ses événements en février 2019, sous la baguette de Pablo Heras-Casado dans le monumental Requiem de Berlioz.
