Invité du Théâtre de la Ville, Brahem fait revivre sur scène les compositions de l’album « The Astounding Eyes Of Rita » (ECM) dont le titre est emprunté à un poème du palestinien Mahmoud Darwich. Pour ce projet, il a voulu incarner sa musique dans une configuration instrumentale nouvelle : « J’ai toujours peur de m’installer dans quelque chose de trop confortable. J’avais envie de retravailler avec des musiciens orientaux parce que je peux retrouver certaines choses que je ne trouve pas avec des musiciens de jazz… ». Il renoue ici avec la formule du quartette, qu’il affectionne, créant de savoureux alliages entre le oud et la clarinette basse du jeune Klaus Gesing, influencé par les folklores d’Europe de l’Est, la basse de Brjörn Meyer, et les percussions du libanais Khaled Yassine (darbouka, bendir).
