Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier / de Jean Anouilh / mes Marc Paquien
Créée en 1944, sous l’Occupation allemande, au Théâtre de l’Atelier, Antigone fait une entrée tardive à la Comédie-Française, presque sept décennies après que Jean Anouilh en a actualisé la tragédie. L’Antigone d’Anouilh n’est pas seulement la réécriture de la pièce de Sophocle, mais plutôt, selon les mots de Marc Paquien, « un objet singulier, complexe, polémique et poétique, qui nous saisit et nous émeut, violemment ». D’abord parce que la jeune fille imaginée par Anouilh ne ressemble pas à l’héritière des Labdacides, mais davantage aux jeunes résistants contemporains de sa création. Ensuite, parce que la manière dont Anouilh en actualise la figure en fait l’incarnation de « toutes les rebellions du monde », prenant en charge « notre propre histoire, nos propres révoltes, nos propres actes de résistance contemporaine », dit le metteur en scène. Une enfant aspirant à rester pure et à se garder des souillures de la compromission, telle est cette Antigone que Marc Paquien accompagne sur scène comme une petite sœur.
