Depuis ses (jeunes) années à la tête de l’Orchestre National de Jazz (1987), Antoine Hervé entretient des relations privilégiées avec le Théâtre Jean Vilar de Suresnes et son directeur Olivier Meyer. Leur complicité a donné naissance à de nombreux projets dont par exemple la création de Mozart la Nuit en 1997… Antoine Hervé revient aujourd’hui à Suresnes pour un mois de résidence ponctué d’une série de ses désormais classiques « Leçons de Jazz » et d’une création en concert. Côté « pédagogie », quatre nouvelles « Leçons » seront au programme tous les mardis soirs, consacrées successivement au « Blues au piano » (le 8), à Louis Armstrong (le 15), à Antonio Carlos Jobim (le 22) et enfin à Keith Jarrett (le 29). « Je suis parti du constat que le jazz est globalement méconnu, confie Antoine Hervé. Je rappelle le contexte historique, raconte des anecdotes et donne quelques éléments d’analyse musicale. L’idée est de désacraliser ces grands interprètes qui sont des musiciens à la portée de tous ». Quant à son nouveau projet intitulé « Le Jazz et la Java » (les 25 et 26), il s’agit d’une création pour quintette de jazz avec chanteuse (l’excellente Mélanie Dahan), conçue comme un hommage aux flirts féconds et fréquents du jazz avec le music-hall français, de Piaf à Charles Trénet et d’Henri Salvador à Yves Montand… Le regard de l’un des plus savants musiciens de jazz français sur un temps où le jazz se concevait d’abord comme une musique de divertissement. Avec aussi autour d’Antoine Hervé, Michel Bénita à la contrebasse, Philippe Garcia à la batterie et Eric Le Lann à la trompette.
