La pochette de votre album est saisissante, votre visage masqué par votre main… De quoi vous cachez-vous’
Antonio Placer : Cette image me montre tel que je veux bien me montrer. J’invite à venir regarder au-delà de cette gueule, à travers moi. Derrière, on peut voir la Galice, l’endroit où je suis né. Finalement, ce disque est un autoportrait. Ma démarche a une filiation avec Le Gréco, la rencontre entre l’ombre et la lumière, entre la voix et le silence. Je veux montrer que la vie n’est pas que jolie, que la beauté est un fleuve qui coule entre deux rives, et que voir le monde demande un effort.

Etes-vous citoyen immergé dans ce monde?
A. P : On ne peut pas dissocier la part d’homme de la part d’artiste. Je suis ancré dans mon Dauphiné, mes Alpes, je suis fidèle au pays qui m’a accueilli pendant trente ans, où ma fille est née, mais ce que j’y vois aujourd’hui a une saveur amère, un relent des mentalités qu’a subies l’Espagne aux pires moments. Je fais ma guerre civile sans mitrailleuse, avec ma plume et ma voix. Je suis un animal sauvage, je ne peux pas plaire à l’intelligentsia qui aime les animaux en cage. Tout ce que je fais, je le fais avec passion.
Dans quelle langue rêvez-vous’
A. P : Je rêve, j’écris et je parle dans trois langues : le Galicien, ma langue maternelle, mais qui s’éloigne de moi ; le Castillan par la force des choses ; et le Français, si différente des autres… Je parle et je chante une langue qui m’est propre, le Tamarindola, dont mes entrailles trouvent l’intuition. C’est une langue avec laquelle je m’amuse, je règle mes comptes, je peux être sarcastique. Elle suscite des réactions surprenantes! Je suis conscient de la puissance de ma voix, et c’est par elle que je veux toucher l’autre.
