C’est à partir des Identités meurtrières d’Amin Maalouf, essai social, politique et historique questionnant l’origine de nombreux conflits européens, que la metteuse en scène Hala Ghosn a réfléchi sur les façons d’ « apprivoiser la panthère ». Elle a réuni six acteurs de nationalités différentes qui ont parfois connu dans leurs pays des guerres fratricides. Comment éviter l’esprit clanique et la revendication identitaire ? « Par mes origines et mon histoire personnelle, je me suis toujours demandé comment les membres d’une même famille, d’une même culture et d’une même éducation, pouvaient suivre des destins totalement opposés. » Hala Ghosn en appelle à la vigilance quotidienne de chacun afin que, placé devant ses propres contradictions, l’être puisse maîtriser sa part d’ombre et tester sa capacité de tolérance. Les situations drôles et légères, absurdes et loufoques, apparaissent grâce à la capacité de distance d’une mise en scène audacieuse. Penser la guerre civile est l’objet de ce spectacle de théâtre, l’un des lieux où l’on puisse réfléchir ensemble.
