Le trompettiste Fabrice Martinez et le pianiste Frédéric Escoffier, tous deux membres du groupe CHUT!, rencontrent trois musiciens d’Archimusic à la boutique du Val à Meudon : Yves Rousseau à la contrebasse et David Pouradier-Duteil à la batterie, ainsi que le plus jeune Clément Duthoit. À la manœuvre, Fabrice Martinez résume ainsi les enjeux de cette forme d’hommage au saxophoniste Jean-Rémy Guédon, leader et compositeur d’Archimusic : « Je me suis plongé dans 14 heures de musiques et 25 ans de compositions. J’en ai extrait des moments intenses où l’écriture me touchait particulièrement. Les “perles” de Jean-Rémy ! A partir de cela, grâce notamment à la modernité créative du jeu du pianiste Fred Escoffier, jouant d’un instrument harmonique qui n’existe pas au départ dans l’œuvre de Jean-Rémy, nous allons revisiter les pièces en y incluant deux improvisateurs, Clément Duthoit au saxophone et moi-même. » Autrement dit, une relecture avec une part d’écriture inflexible et une part d’inventivité indispensable.
