L’histoire d’Armida a inspiré bon nombre de compositeurs. Lully, Gluck, Haydn, Rossini, Dvoràk ; tous ont écrit leur opéra basé sur le personnage du poète italien Le Tasse. On connaît moins la version de Vivaldi, car elle nous est parvenue sans son deuxième acte. Alessandrini a travaillé avec Frédéric Delamea pour nous en proposer une reconstitution. Interprétée par l’envoûtante Sarah Mingardo dans le rôle éponyme, cette version affirme le goût de Vivaldi pour les voix de contre-alto, qui occupent cinq des sept rôles. En attendant ce concert, on pourra écouter le magnifique enregistrement de L’Olympiade, paru chez Naïve, qui démontre que le Concerto italiano est une formation passionnante sur le répertoire vivaldien.
