Difficile de faire l’éloge du premier spectacle mieux que Jacques Téphany, dans un entretien accordé à La Terrasse à l’occasion de la création de cette adaptation de la correspondance entre Artaud et Barrault : « Dans ce spectacle, Stanislas Roquette fait une performance remarquable. Ces textes sont prodigieux quand on les lit, mais interprétés avec cette flamme, ils deviennent exceptionnellement tragiques. Guidé par un maître comme Guénoun, cet homme d’une intelligence supérieure, Stanislas fait parvenir le sens et la poésie du texte, en une heure qui ressemble à une pépite. Il n’y a pas de mots théoriques pour raconter cela. Guénoun, qui a tous les outils du théoricien, parvient, avec ce jeune acteur, à rendre le texte populaire, accessible au savant comme à l’ignorant. Être à la fois familier et distingué : voilà ce que réussit ce spectacle. » Dans Qu’est-ce que le temps ?, adapté du livre XI des Confessions, de Saint Augustin, Stanislas Roquette donne corps à cette méditation vertigineuse, « dans la tradition d’une sorte de comique spéculatif, ou de one-man-show théorique, dont les antécédents pourraient être paradoxalement trouvés dans Molière ou Raymond Devos. », selon les mots de Denis Guénoun.
