Fondatrice de la compagnie Les corps secrets, Diane Scott travaille depuis 2002 à des spectacles insolites, singuliers, qui s’affranchissent des canons de l’esthétique contemporaine et s’inscrivent dans une conception profondément politique du théâtre. Cette conception, la metteure en scène ne la creuse pas par la mise en lumière frontale de thématiques politiques, mais à travers une recherche poétique interrogeant le rapport au plateau, à la voix, au corps, au temps, à l’objet… Ainsi, Artaud, pièce courte, première partie d’un ensemble de trois formes intitulé Nietzsche triptyque, se présente comme un montage de films d’archives, de sons et de textes dits, selon la représentation, par Marie-Jeanne Laurent ou Eugène Durif. Un montage qui ne correspond d’aucune façon à une lecture conventionnelle de textes d’Antonin Artaud, mais à un cheminement personnel à travers une juxtaposition d’événements, de mots et de perceptions. « Les questions de théâtre ne sont pas celles du savoir, elles se doivent d’être confuses », explique Diane Scott dans la note introductive à sa création, avant de reprendre un extrait du Théâtre et son double : « Au théâtre, comme ailleurs, les idées claires sont des idées mortes ».
Un espace de projection intime
Des blocs de glace suspendus qui gouttent, puis tombent et se brisent au sol. La puissance d’images qui brouillent les pistes du temps pour participer à la résurgence de scènes et d’êtres du passé. La fulgurance de noirs et de silences qui n’ont pas peur de se prolonger. La diction lente, duveteuse et régulière d’extraits de textes de Heiner Müller, Dante Alighieri, Jacques Lacan, Bertolt Brecht… Artaud, pièce courte est une forme poétique de quarante-cinq minutes nourries de jaillissements et d’obsessions, quarante-cinq minutes — à la fois denses et lâches — qui convoquent chacun d’entre nous à l’endroit de ses ressentis, de ses propres pensées et intuitions. Car, l’univers de Diane Scott ne renvoie ni au sens, ni à une appréhension analytique et référencée des éléments qui composent ses spectacles. Correspondant à des espaces de projection intime, de véritables étendues de liberté, les créations de la metteure en scène appellent davantage la sensation diffuse, l’association libre, le voyage incertain, l’impulsion aléatoire, que la compréhension. Il arrive que certains spectateurs ne supportent pas de parcourir des chemins aussi aventureux. Ils quittent alors la salle, parfois pesamment, marquant ainsi de leur empreinte la matière d’une composition pour voix et espace à laquelle ils n’avaient bien sûr pas conscience de prendre part.
