Avec onze comédiens aguerris ou sortis depuis peu de l’EPSAD, l’école qu’abrite le théâtre qu’il dirige, Stuart Seide a réussi le défi de donner vie au poème bruissant de Dylan Thomas, aux êtres qui peuplent ce petit village gallois né sous la plume du poète, et ressemblant au village réel où il vivait. « C’est une œuvre qui m’émeut, me parle profondément, et dont la forme insolite évoque vingt-quatre heures d’un village gallois et la soixantaine de personnages qui l’habitent. On parle des « petits », des gens sans conséquence, des laissés pour compte. Il ne se passe rien et pourtant il se passe mille choses. On dort, on rêve, on chante, on boit, on danse, on se recouche ; la nuit descend et recouvre le village. C’est formidable de s’attarder avec ces soixante personnages, leurs aspirations, leur jalousie, leurs mesquineries : ils sont passionnants parce que tous les êtres humains, les petits comme les grands, peuvent l’être. » Une œuvre à découvrir et un immense poète.
