Après Sans la gaîté en 2010, spectacle au cœur duquel se détachaient le texte et le langage, le metteur en scène Patrice Bigel crée aujourd’hui Au bord de la route, une proposition plaçant le corps au centre du plateau. Inspiré d’une photographie de l’artiste mexicain Fernando Montiel Klint (Actes de foi), ce nouveau spectacle questionne les facultés de l’être humain à réagir face à l’imprévisible. Désir absolu de contrôle, perte de repères, besoin de se retrouver… Face aux incertitudes du monde, l’individu peut décider de ne plus bouger, de rester « au bord de la route » en attendant qu’on vienne le chercher. « En revisitant la réalité, explique Patrice Bigel, le théâtre nous plonge dans une sorte d’état de perdition. Les corps et les objets abandonnent leur rapport au rationnel. Les personnages peuvent rêver tous les événements qui n’ont pas eu lieu. » Investissant la frontière entre réel et imaginaire, le directeur de la compagnie La Rumeur dessine l’émergence d’un « corps équilibré exprimant la performance », mais aussi celle « d’un corps abandonné, détraqué, inutile ».
