La richesse des Ballets C. de la B., c’est d’être une compagnie entièrement renouvelée et renouvelable au fil des projets, que ce soit pour les interprètes, comme pour les chorégraphes. Depuis leur création en 1984 par Alain Platel, le groupe s’est pourtant forgé une vraie identité, autour de personnalités comme Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Christine de Smedt, Hans Van den Broeck… Koen Augustijnen a déjà signé plusieurs pièces pour les Ballets, affirmant une écriture vive, sans fioriture, et sans concession. Une façon d’aller dans le mouvement sans détours, engageant l’interprète corps et âme dans une physicalité propre à relever les contradictions de notre monde. Même adoucie par la musique baroque qu’il aime associer en live, sans danse heurte et touche en même temps. Aujourd’hui, il livre les premières représentations en France de sa nouvelle pièce, Au-delà, portée par un groupe d’individus dans la pleine puissance de leur quarantaine. Cette fois, c’est le jazz qui les accompagne, dans un mélange acoustique et électronique.
