1975 : après le Printemps de Prague et deux ans avant que Vaclav Havel ne signe la Charte 77, pétition demandant le respect des Droits de l’homme en Tchécoslovaquie. L’opposant deviendra Président… et l’homme de théâtre Vaclav Havel dépeint avec une rare finesse et une implacable vérité les effets du totalitarisme sur les individus, qui transforment l’existence en « un mélange de peurs, de frustrations et d’hypocrisies ». Au cœur des trois pièces, Ferdinand Vanek, manoeuvre dans une brasserie, auteur de théâtre dissident et double imaginaire de l’auteur, se confronte à son employeur dans Audience, à ses amis parfaitement heureux dans Vernissage, et à un artiste intégré au système dans Pétition. Le metteur en scène Nikson Pitacaj conçoit les trois œuvres comme des “interrogatoires subtils“ qui entraînent les protagonistes dans une spirale infernale, lorsque les non-dits et les sous-entendus signifient l’oppression, des interrogatoires qui laissent voir la complexité et les paradoxes de l’homme. Des œuvres à découvrir d’urgence en tant que spectateur et en tant que citoyen !
