Exemplaires anonymes des travailleurs sans qualités de l’économie mondialisée, décideurs paumés au milieu d’une existence calquée sur les modèles pré-formatés, jeunes en mal d’avenir dans une société phagocytée par les séries télé et l’environnement professionnel… C’est au cœur du désarroi quotidien globalisé que Falk Richter tranche à vif la substance de son théâtre. Auteur et metteur en scène associé à la Schaubühne de Berlin depuis 2006, le dramaturge allemand démonte pièce après pièce les rouages du « Système », qui régit désormais les comportements personnels comme les marchés. « Autrefois, Shakespeare écrivait sur les grands de son temps et montrait la violence sanglante des luttes pour le trône. De nos jours, les consultants et les dirigeants de multinationales influent sur le sort de milliers de personnes », remarque-t-il. « Leur pouvoir est certes moins visible que celui des politiques mais il n’en est pas moins réel. Plus, par les valeurs qu’ils prônent, ils contribuent à façonner une image modèle de l’homme, fondée sur l’efficacité et la conformité à l’économie. L’idéologie de la performance a contaminé tous les secteurs d’activités et même notre intimité. »
Ecriture sous haute tension
Retroussant toute posture didactique, Falk Richter saisit les vacillements de l’humain aux prises avec la mondialité standardisée qui le fait autant victime que bourreau. De plus en plus il noue, dans l‘écriture même, vécu intime et observation documentaire du nouvel ordre social dicté par la pensée « efficiente ». Dans My Secret Garden, il livre à la scène les pages de son journal, autofiction recueillant ses confidences sentimentales, questionnements d’auteur, réflexions politiques et visions incisives sur le microcosme théâtral. Créé en complicité avec Stanislas Nordey, cet « autoportrait » a cousu au fil des répétitions analyses des bouleversements de l’époque et interrogations sur la posture d’artiste. « Je me suis pleinement retrouvé dans cette démarche, ainsi que dans cette figure d’artiste, déchiré entre l’épuisement d’une vie de théâtre, la difficulté de mener ensemble vie privée et vie professionnelle et un désir d’investissement politique dans et hors l’œuvre artistique. » raconte le metteur en scène et acteur, qui joue aux côtés d’Anne Tismer et Laurent Sauvage. Dans Trust, Falk Richter met en parallèle la crédibilité des institutions financières, ébranlée sous les violents coups de butoir de la crise, et la confiance dans la relation de couple et le rapport aux autres. Avec la chorégraphe néerlandaise Anouk Van Dijk, il signe une partition drôlement corrosive, qui montre le processus d’objectivation marchande de l’être… jeté dès qu’usagé.
